A spending cap is an ERC-20 token allowance — a permission you grant to a smart contract to transfer a specified amount of tokens from your wallet. Many decentralized applications use spending caps to enable deposits. On Everstrike, the spending cap authorizes the Everstrike Deposit Contract to transfer approved USDC from your wallet when you initiate a deposit.

Setting a Spending Cap

To set a spending cap, click Deposit next to the asset you intend to deposit. Enter the desired deposit amount, and the Everstrike Frontend UI will prepare a spending cap transaction for you to sign in your wallet and publish to the blockchain.
Set the spending cap to the amount you intend to deposit. You do not need to set a larger allowance than your planned deposit. For a full walkthrough, see How to Deposit, Withdraw, and Stake on Everstrike.

How Long Does It Last?

A spending cap has no expiry date. It remains active until you change or revoke it. Each successful transfer reduces the remaining approved amount by the transferred value. Once the contract has spent the full approved amount, no allowance remains and you must set a new spending cap before your next deposit.

Revoking a Spending Cap

Yes, you can revoke a spending cap at any time. Most popular wallets — including MetaMask — support spending cap revocation directly through their interface. Check your wallet software’s settings or token approval management screen to find and revoke existing allowances.

MetaMask Security Warning on Mainnet

MetaMask integrates with Blockaid, a transaction monitoring tool that alerts you when you grant an untrusted contract permission to spend tokens. The Everstrike Mainnet Deposit Contract is currently flagged as untrusted by Blockaid on Arbitrum One, Optimism, and Polygon. Until Blockaid whitelists the address, MetaMask will display a security warning when you set a spending cap on Everstrike Mainnet. Other wallet operations are unaffected.Before proceeding, take these precautions:
  1. Verify the contract address you are approving against the authoritative addresses listed below.
  2. Approve only the amount you intend to deposit. Test large deposits with a smaller amount first.
