Trustless Withdrawal: Withdraw Without Operator Cooperation
Use Trustless Withdrawal as a permissionless emergency escape hatch to recover funds via state receipt, with a 24-hour challenge window and mandatory fees.
Trustless Withdrawal lets you withdraw your funds from Everstrike without any cooperation from the operator. It is permissionless and censorship-resistant — no one can stop you from submitting a valid state receipt to Everstrike.sol and claiming your balance. This mechanism ensures that even in a worst-case scenario, such as operator censorship or malicious behavior, you retain access to your funds.
Trustless Withdrawal is an emergency mechanism, not a routine withdrawal path. It carries a 24-hour challenge period during which you must stop all trading, and it involves significant mandatory fees. Use a standard withdrawal for everyday fund movements and reserve Trustless Withdrawal for situations where the operator censors your request or acts maliciously.
Trustless Withdrawal uses an innocent-until-proven-guilty model. Your submitted state receipt is assumed valid unless the operator can prove otherwise within the challenge window.
1
Submit your state receipt and withdrawal amount
Send your latest signed state receipt and the amount you wish to withdraw to Everstrike.sol directly. You must use the receipt with the highest nonce.
2
24-hour challenge window opens
The operator has 24 hours to challenge your request by submitting a newer receipt with a higher nonce. During this window, you must not submit any new orders or trades.
3
A newer receipt invalidates the request
If the operator submits a receipt with a higher nonce than yours — for example, one created after you continued trading — your request is invalidated and the Dishonesty Fee is forfeited.
4
Withdrawal completes without a valid challenge
If no valid challenge is submitted within 24 hours, Everstrike.sol completes the withdrawal and returns the Dishonesty Fee to you.
Trustless Withdrawal requires two fees. Understand both before you submit.
Fee
Amount
Outcome
Dishonesty Fee
10% of the withdrawal amount, or 100 USDT — whichever is higher
Returned to you after a successful withdrawal. Claimed by the operator if your request is found to be invalid.
Withdrawal Fee
20 USDT
Non-refundable regardless of outcome.
The fee structure makes Trustless Withdrawal unsuitable for small amounts. Only use it for withdrawals well above 100 USDT where the cost is justified by the circumstances.
Complete all of these checks before initiating a Trustless Withdrawal. Skipping any of them risks losing the Dishonesty Fee.
Before submitting a Trustless Withdrawal request:
Stop trading immediately. Any new order or trade after submission gives the operator grounds to challenge and invalidate your request.
Disable Cross Margin. If you have open positions, switch to Isolated Margin so that position losses are contained and do not affect your withdrawal balance.
Confirm you hold your latest state receipt. Verify that the nonce on your receipt is the highest you have received. If you are unsure, request a receipt copy from the operator or retrieve it from Everstrike.sol before proceeding.
Your latest state receipt contains both your signature and the operator’s signature. It proves the agreed balance and positions at the time both parties signed. The Dishonesty Fee financially discourages anyone from submitting a receipt that claims a higher balance than was actually agreed — the cost of a false claim exceeds any potential gain on small amounts.
Can the operator create a receipt on my behalf?
No. The operator cannot access your private key and therefore cannot produce your signature. The operator uses your public key only to verify that your signature on a receipt is authentic. Every receipt you hold was signed by you.
Can someone else start a Trustless Withdrawal for me?
No. Initiating a Trustless Withdrawal requires your private key to sign the submission transaction. Only you can start the process for your own account.
Do I need to personally sign every single order?
Not necessarily. You can grant the operator access to a session key — a short-lived, revocable key with limited permissions and a configurable expiry. The session key signs orders on your behalf, improving the speed of the order flow.Session keys slightly reduce security compared to signing every order yourself. Revoke your session key immediately if you suspect any malicious behavior from the operator.
What should I do if the operator stops issuing state receipts?
Stop trading immediately. An operator that stops issuing receipts after your orders execute may be acting maliciously. Start a Trustless Withdrawal using your latest receipt as soon as possible, before any challenge period or further account changes complicate the situation.
Will Trustless Withdrawal support other operations in the future?
Yes. Everstrike V2 will include Trustless Unstaking (also called trustless redemption), which applies the same model to the staking and evUSD redemption flow. The state channel model can be extended to any operation that currently requires operator cooperation.
